Lets talk - Skincare

Hello ladies,

Now that the winter is finally over in Denmark and spring is here, the temperatures are changing so should our skin care routine. The same basic steps apply (cleansing, toning and hydration), but we need to change the products that we use.

In the cold and windy days of winter we need to moisturize and protect our complexion from the lower temperatures, that means a "heavier" face cream.

But in the spring time we can go a bit more light, but still hydrate and protect.

Any good makeup starts with a regular daily skin care routine. So make sure that your complexion is clean and hydrated according to your skin type before going to the next step, of applying your makeup.

Cleansing - it is very important to start off with a clean face, to prepare your skin for the next step.

You can use a makeup remover or a micellar water to remove the makeup, and a daily cleanser gel or a scrub to make sure you got rid off all traces of makeup.

Toner - to be sure you have removed all the left over makeup, dirt, and excess oil off your face use a toner. Depending on your needs you can use a hydrating, calming, soothing or astringent toners.

Using cotton pads saturated with toner go over your face, neck or decolletage in the evening to complete the cleansing step and in the morning to remove the sebum produced during the night.

Treatment and/or face cream - this step is tailored to your complexion needs. Do you need an acnee treatment? Or maybe something for enlarged pores, dehydration, dullness, discoloration, and so on. Now is the time to tackle those problems, because some treatments work better at night.

Moisturizers improve skin’s appearance, helping to keep it feeling smooth, plumped, and soft, so don't skip this step.

Eye Cream - the thinner skin around your eyes needs special TLC, so choose it depending on your concerns: wrinkles, dark circles, or puffiness. During the day, always apply eye cream or gel before sunscreen.

Moisturizer with SPF - applying moisturizer keeps your skin soft, supple, free from dry patches, and protect your skin from those harmful rays that damage skin cells, putting you at risk for skin cancer and premature aging.

Extra step

Exfoliate 1-2 times a week - it is a good idea to get those dead skin cells off of your face! Doing so will allow your makeup to glide onto a much smoother surface! This is especially important of those that have dry, flaky skin.

Kisses, Julia
